Terminator Salvation

The year is 2018. Judgment Day has come and gone, leveling modern civilization. An army of Terminators roams the post-apocalyptic landscape, killing or collecting humans where they hide in the desolate cities and deserts. But small groups of survivors have organized into a Resistance, hiding in underground bunkers and striking when they can against an enemy force that vastly outnumbers them. Controlling the Terminators is the artificial intelligence network Skynet, which became self-aware 14 years earlier and, in the blink of an eye, turned on its creators, unleashing nuclear annihilation on an unsuspecting world. Only one man saw Judgment Day coming. One man, whose destiny has always been intertwined with the fate of human existence: John Connor (Christian Bale). Now the world is on the brink of the future that Connor has been warned about all his life. But something totally new has shaken his belief that humanity stands a chance of winning this war: the appearance of Marcus Wright (Sam Worthington), a stranger from the past whose last memory is of being on death row before awakening in this strange, new world. Connor must decide whether Marcus can be trusted. But as Skynet adapts new strategies to end the Resistance forever, Connor and Marcus must find common ground to take a stand against the onslaught—to infiltrate Skynet and meet the enemy head-on.

Connor does not start off as leader of the human resistance, but will work his way through the ranks in the film. He is mistrusted by other soldiers due to his extensive knowledge of Skynet. McG said that the film will reveal the development of the Model 101 Terminator as well: scenes involve humans being captured and studied by Skynet in order to perfect their cybernetic organisms and John explaining "[if] we let these things go online, the war is over". Skynet tries to kill Kyle Reese because it is aware that Reese is John's father, and uses him as a bait in an attempt to kill John.

Angels And Demons

The film starts with the funeral of the Pope in the Vatican. It then switches off to CERN, a scientific research facility in Geneva, where a research team is experimenting with the creation of antimatter. In this scene, a woman named Vittoria Vetra, a scientist in the research team is introduced. Just moments after the antimatter has been successfully created by the team, the research facility is compromised by an intruder dressed as a scientist who steals the antimatter after murdering one of the individuals guarding it. Robert Langdon, a professor at Harvard University is visited by the Vatican police official who tells him that someone has been making threats against the Vatican and has already kidnapped four cardinals (called preferiti — Italian for preferred) who were being considered to be the next Pope. The officer also tells Langdon that the kidnapper will begin executing the cardinals every hour starting at 8PM that night. After Langdon arrives at the Vatican, the Vatican police show Langdon a video of the antimatter placed in an undetermined location through a video camera specifically shooting the object that is fed into a surveillance system. After the Camerlengo, the assistant to the previous Pope, suggests the idea, the Swiss Guard decide to find the location of the antimatter by systematically shutting off sections of the city's electrical grid and monitoring the surveillance camera to see if it shuts off corresponding to the city sections being shut off. If a section of the city's power has been turned off and the camera also loses power, the theory holds that the camera is located in that section of the city.

Langdon at this point mentions the history between the Illuminati and the Vatican and the conflict that began between them in 1668. According to Langdon, during the 17th century, the Vatican purged Catholics who favored science over conflicting Church teaching. The conflict eventually led to the Illuminati becoming a secret society determined to take vengeance on the Vatican for this incident and because of the Vatican's uncompromising position opposed to the science that the Illuminati stands for. Therefore, Langdon concludes that the threat and kidnapping of the four cardinals has been done by Illuminati to take that revenge by using the antimatter to blow up Vatican City. The antimatter is contained in a battery-powered canister, and as Vittoria explains, when the battery power runs out, the magnetic force keeping the antimatter suspended will shut down and cause the antimatter to react with matter (the canister), thus creating an intense explosion. It would recreate how science believes the universe was created. Langdon then educates the police force about the symbolic meaning of kidnapping four cardinals that the Illuminati's connection to the four pillars of science: earth, water, air and fire. He then deduces that the kidnapper intends to kill each of the kidnapped cardinals using the four pillars. He then receives special permission from Camerlengo to locate clues from old texts in the Vatican archives to find where the church of Illuminati is and in the meantime trying to save the four cardinals from being executed in four different locations. He finally discovers a poem hidden in Galileo's Diagramma della Veritas; the poem is a riddle that helps Robert figure out the path of illumination, the four churches in which the cardinals will be murdered. The Camerlengo at this point urges the cardinals to evacuate the Vatican because of the bomb threat but the head of the cardinals refuses, saying that they needed to have faith in God, and also not break the tradition of the conclave. The cardinals are in a conclave in the Sistine Chapel in order to elect the new Pope. Later, the Camerlengo makes a speech to the cardinals about religion and science, saying that they should be more open, and less like the secretive Illuminati.

Meanwhile, Langdon proposes that the first altar of science is at the Pantheon, which is where the artist Raphael is buried (From Santi's earthly tomb with demon's hole). However, Vittoria notices that Raphael was put there after the path was created, meaning the Pantheon was not the first alter of science. After realizing that the poem referred to a chapel Raphael built, they learn where the first alter of science really is. Langdon encounters the first cardinal, already dead by the element of Earth with his hand cuffed behind his back, soil filled in his mouth and the word "earth" branded onto his chest. Langdon discovers he was located at Santa Maria del Popolo, a chapel Raphael once had built, through the poem that the Illuminati left along with their initial threat of killing the four cardinals. Langdon then realizes that the first marker, or sculpture that leads the way along the path, is Habakkuk and the Angel, and that, although it points two ways, the angel shows the true way (Let angels guide you on your lofty quest).

Langdon is led to the next clue when he realizes that, while they were in a chapel built by Raphael, the sculptures it contained were all Bernini. This leads him to St. Peter's Square which contains many of Bernini's colonades. There he finds the second cardinal, who also dies from the cause of Air, as the killer had punctured his lungs. Near where the cardinal died, the next sculpture in the path is found; West Ponente, an elliptical carving with 5 lines representing breath. Langdon follows the direction of the 5 breath marks on the tile.
Ecstasy of St. Theresa

As he follows the third trail, he finds one of the cardinals dying from fire by burning on top of a flame made up of wooden chairs inside Santa Maria della Vittoria also with a word — "Fire" — branded onto his chest. Bernini's Ecstasy of St. Theresa is in the chapel in proximity to the burning man. Langdon and the Swiss Guard try to save him, but the kidnapper foils their attempts by killing all of the police personnel inside the churchl. Langdon manages to escape the scene by hiding underground.

Langdon draws out the previous three locations on a map and cites the line in the poem from the Diagramma della Veritas, "'cross Rome the mystic elements unfold," and realizes that, in drawing a cross to connect the places and a church related to water, he has found the next location. He and the police team pursues the next trail to the Fountain of the Four Rivers. As soon as they arrive, they see a van pulled up next to the fountain. As the two officers accompanying Langdon notice something suspicious about the van and approach it, the assassin surprises and kills both, unloads the fourth cardinal tied with weights into the fountain, and drives off. Langdon, with the help of strangers, saves the cardinal who tells him that he was held captive in the Castel Sant'Angelo, the location of the Illuminati church. As Langdon and the police approach the location, they see the same van empty and proceed down to the church of Illuminati. At this point the assassin is checking bank account wire transfer information on his laptop. He reads an email that the final wire transfer was successful and that there is a Volkswagen with a key in the ignition waiting for him outside. As he prepares to leave, Langdon and Vetra walk in on him. As they look for the clue the assassin appears out of hiding behind a wall and leaves without shooting them, saying that it is because they are not armed, but advises them not to follow him. Langdon realizes that there is the fifth branding iron that depicts two keys crossed. Initially, he believes it is a symbol of the papacy. He then thinks that there is going to be a fifth death and is likely to be the Camerlengo. As Langdon and Vittoria run to save the Camerlengo from impending death, they witness the explosion of a car— the one the assassin had been promised in exchange for killing the four Cardinals.

They get to the Vatican and find the head of the Swiss Guard, Commander Richter, pointing a gun at the Camerlengo. The accompanying police subsequently shoot Richter to death. They also shoot a bishop who enters the room in response to Camerlengo accusing the bishop of being Illuminati. Camerlengo has the fifth symbol freshly and painfully branded onto his chest. Baseed on the fact the symbol is upside-down, they finally locate the antimatter in St. Peter's tomb in the necropolis under the Vatican. When Vittoria's attempt to diffuse it proves futile, the Camerlengo snatches the antimatter and loads it to a helicopter outside and flies with it as high as possible before it explodes when the timer reaches 12:00, supposedly sacrificing himself. Just before the huge detonation in the sky, he parachutes out and lands in St. Peter's Square with a delight of onlookers. The explosion sends shockwaves throughout the city causing minor destruction and minor injuries.

The cardinals debate whether the Camerlengo should be Pope after hearing about his heroic effort that saved the Vatican. After some deliberation about the age of Camerlengo (who is much younger than the minimum required age), they reach consensus to vote him as a candidate to be the next Pope. While this happens, Langdon and Vetra go through Commander Richter's desk to recover journals that the commander took from Vetra earlier in the movie. The journals were written by Silvano—a colleague of Vetra and a Catholic priest— killed by the terrorist. They discover a hidden surveillance system on the Commander's computer and rewind the recording to see Commander Richter confronting the Camerlengo (who is revealed much more radically religious than the previous Pope and had become increasingly uncomfortable with the Vatican's increasing openness to science) had plotted everything and had branded the fifth symbol onto his chest himself. He had poisoned and killed the previous Pope and tried to appear as the savior of Vatican from the threat from the Illuminati, which he claimed was trying to destroy the Vatican in the religion and science debate. He made an opposite act to appear as being more open to science in order to unite the Catholic church. While in the hospital recovering from injuries he received during the shockwave of the antimatter explosion, he is informed that the conclave of Cardinals wants to see him in the chapel. Upon entering the conclave and receiving a stock-still room full of accusatory eyes, he realizes that the Cardinals now know everything. He walks out of the chapel quietly, but is trapped by the Vatican police. Seeing no way of escape, he then immolates himself with candle oil while putting his hands together and asking for forgiveness.

Cardinal Baggia—the fourth cardinal and would-be victim of the assassin—is then elected pope and Langdon is given the "Diagramma della Veritas" on indefinite loan to be returned in Langdon's last will and testament. The head of the cardinals reveals to Langdon that they are all imperfect and therefore religion is also imperfect. Knowing Langdon's dissatisfaction or disagreements with the church, he also advises Langdon that in his impending publication, any mention of the Catholic church should be made "gently", just as he had instructed the seizure of Carmelengo should be carried out.

The Unborn

Sometimes the soul of a dead person has been so tainted with evil that it is denied entrance to heaven. It must endlessly wander the borderlands between worlds, desperately searching for a new body to inhabit.

And sometimes it actually succeeds.

Writer/director David Goyer (Blade: Trinity, The Invisible, Batman Begins) gives a terrifying glimpse into the life of the undead in The Unborn, a supernatural thriller that follows a young woman pulled into a world of nightmares when a demonic spirit haunts her and threatens everyone she loves.

Casey Beldon (Odette Yustman) hated her mother for leaving her as a child. But when inexplicable things start to happen, Casey begins to understand why she left. Plagued by merciless dreams and a tortured ghost that haunts her waking hours, she must turn to the only spiritual advisor, Sendak (Gary Oldman), who can make it stop.

With Sendak’s help, Casey uncovers the source of a family curse dating back to Nazi Germany—a creature with the ability to inhabit anyone or anything that is getting stronger with each possession. With the curse unleashed, her only chance at survival is to shut a doorway from beyond our world that has been pried open by someone who was never born.

Star Trek

In 2387, Romulus is threatened by a supernova. Ambassador Spock pilots a ship carrying "red matter" that can create a gravitational singularity, drawing the supernova into a black hole. However, Spock is too late, and Romulus is destroyed. Captain Nero of the Romulan mining ship Narada attempts to exact revenge on Spock for the destruction of Romulus, but both ships are caught in the black hole's event horizon, traveling to different points into the past. The Narada arrives first, 154 years earlier, and attacks the Federation starship USS Kelvin. As the Kelvin is evacuated, acting-Captain George Kirk stays behind to provide cover for the fleeing shuttlecraft. The Kelvin is destroyed moments after George's son, James Tiberius Kirk, is born. Ambassador Spock arrives 25 years later and is captured by Nero. Spock is marooned on the planet Delta Vega so that he can witness the destruction of Vulcan.

Kirk grows up into an intelligent, but reckless and cynical young man. Captain Christopher Pike tells him of his father's heroic efforts and convinces him to join Starfleet. At Starfleet Academy, Kirk befriends fellow cadets Leonard McCoy and Uhura. In his third year at the Academy, Kirk is accused of cheating on the Kobayashi Maru test by its programmer, Commander Spock. During the hearing, Starfleet receives a distress signal from Vulcan, and the cadets are mobilized to help man the ships in orbit. Acting as his attending physician, McCoy smuggles the grounded Kirk on board the USS Enterprise.

Kirk recognizes the similarities between the distress call from Vulcan and the encounter that destroyed the Kelvin. He warns Captain Pike that the fleet is heading into a trap. The Enterprise arrives late; the fleet has been destroyed. As the Narada drills into Vulcan's core, Nero orders Pike to surrender himself via shuttlecraft. Pike agrees, promoting Spock to captain and Kirk to first officer. En route to the Narada, Kirk, Hikaru Sulu, and Chief Engineer Olson perform an orbital skydive onto the drilling platform to destroy it; Olson is killed, but Kirk and Sulu stop the drill. However, it has drilled deep enough for Nero to launch red matter into the planet's core, imploding the planet into a black hole. Spock rescues most of the planet's elders, including his father, but his mother dies along with the majority of the planet's population. Nero sets course for Earth and tortures Pike for the command codes to its perimeter defenses.

After a heated argument, Spock maroons Kirk on Delta Vega and orders the ship to rendezvous with the rest of the fleet. On Delta Vega, Kirk encounters Ambassador Spock, who relays the future's events through a mind meld and insists that Kirk must become captain of the Enterprise. The two travel to a nearby Starfleet outpost where they meet Montgomery Scott. Spock beams Kirk and Scott aboard the Enterprise. Once aboard, Kirk manages to anger Spock, forcing him to pass his command to Kirk due to being emotionally compromised.

Spock, Scott, and Pavel Chekov devise a plan to ambush the Narada by dropping out of warp behind Titan. Kirk and Spock then beam aboard the Narada. While Kirk rescues Pike, Spock retakes the elder Spock's ship, destroys the drill and lures the Narada away from Earth before piloting a collision course. The Enterprise arrives and beams Kirk, Pike, and Spock away before the collision, which releases the remaining red matter and creates a black hole within the Narada's superstructure. Kirk offers to help rescue Nero and his crew, the Romulan refuses and the Narada collapses into the black hole. The Enterprise escapes the same fate by ejecting and igniting the ship's warp drive reactor cores, the resulting explosion pushing them clear.

Kirk is promoted to captain of the Enterprise, relieving the newly promoted Admiral Pike. While searching for his father, Spock encounters his older self in a hangar; Ambassador Spock is departing to help found a new colony for the remaining Vulcans. Spock informs his older self of his intention to leave Starfleet to help in the rebuilding. Ambassador Spock tells his younger self that he and Kirk need each other and that he should remain in Starfleet. Taking his older self's advice, Spock does so, becoming first officer under Kirk's command.

A Cinderella Story

Sam Montgomery (Hilary Duff) lived a semi-fairytale life with her widowed father (Whip Hubley) when she was 8 years old in a suburb in California. Later, her father opened up a Diner named after him and fell in love with a woman named Fiona (Jennifer Coolidge) who he later married. One day, a falling support beam kills her father in the 1994 Northridge earthquake and leaves her with her plastic-surgery/salmon-obsessed stepmother and her two cruel stepsisters Brianna (Madeline Zima) and Gabriella (Andrea Avery). Eight years later, Sam is a straight-A student enduring her uncaring stepmother's wrath, who turned her father's cafe into a hot-pink hot spot and forces her to work as a diner girl. In addition to her family, Sam must deal with the popular girls at school, particularly the head cheerleader, Shelby Cummings (Julie Gonzalo). Sam confides in her best friend Carter (Dan Byrd) and her cyberspace pen pal, who wants to attend Princeton University with her. What she doesn't know is that her secret admirer turns out to be Austin Ames (Chad Michael Murray), the quarterback of the football team and the most popular student at school who is currently dating Shelby, who is obsessed with being popular.

As they text each other back and forth, Austin invites Sam to the Halloween Dance so they can meet face to face. Austin dumps Shelby a few hours before the dance. At the same time, Fiona forces Sam to work late at the diner that night until midnight. Rhonda (Regina King), Sam's mentor and friend at the diner, and Carter help Sam get to the dance, masquerading as Cinderella in a mask and Rhonda's wedding dress. She meets Austin in the middle of the dance floor and is at first put off by the fact that her pen pal is Austin Ames himself. He soon wins her over, and they move outside together. As they dance outside in a gazebo, they play 'Ten Questions' with Sam never revealing her identity. Meanwhile, Carter, disguised as Zorro, saves Shelby from David (Brad Bufanda), one of Austin's friends, from making a move on her.

Right before Austin is about to take off Sam's mask, her cell phone alarm goes off 15 minutes before midnight, warning her to run back to the diner before she's caught. She leaves Austin before he can figure out who she is. Austin and Sam are chosen as the Homecoming Prince and Princess, but apparently Cinderella is playing hard to get. Sam manages to find Carter, and they flee from the dance. On the way out, Sam accidentally drops her cell phone. Austin, who has been following her, picks it up, determined to find out who this Cinderella is.

Sam goes to school the next day to find Austin performing a school-wide search for his Cinderella. Sam is still feeling uncomfortable about revealing herself to Austin, who in turn is still searching obsessively. Sam tells Carter that if he tells Shelby he was her Zorro, she'll reveal herself to Austin. Carter agrees but after he tells Shelby, she rejects him. One afternoon, Sam's stepsisters find her emails while snooping around on her computer. After unsuccessfully trying to pass themselves off as Cinderella to Austin, they end up showing the emails to Shelby and her friends. The stepsisters make her believe Sam stole Austin on purpose, so she puts together a cruel skit to perform at a football pep rally in order to humiliate Sam. The skit is performed in front of the whole school, as well as Austin's father who is present at the pep rally and has been pressuring Austin to attend college to play football at USC, his alma mater. Austin has never told his father he really wants to attend Princeton.

Hurt and humiliated, Sam goes back home and Fiona brings her a letter from Princeton saying that she was rejected. This is, in actuality, a fake letter as Fiona and the stepsisters threw out the real acceptance letter from Princeton, most likely so she wouldn't leave the diner. The next day at the diner, Brianna and Gabriella slam the door so a guitar with a photo of Elvis falls down (which they blame on Sam), ripping off the wallpaper and exposing a quote: "Never let the fear of striking out keep you from playing the game". Sam reads this aloud and decides she has had enough of her step-family and their abusive treatment. She quits working at the diner, tells Fiona that Fiona is through messing with her, and moves in with Rhonda, who, along with every other employee, also resigns. Because of this, all the customers leave early. The night of the big football game, Sam storms into the boys' locker room and confronts Austin, saying that she's fed up with his two different identities, one to her and one to his friends "Waiting for you is like waiting for rain in this drought, useless and disappointing". Carter meets up with her at the school, and invites Sam to attend the football game with him. During a break in the game, Shelby confidently tells her fellow cheerleaders that she and Austin will soon be back together. In the last few moments of the game, while the team is huddled up before their next play, Austin sees Sam leaving and abandons the game. As he is running off the field, his father grabs him and asks him what he is doing, throwing away his dream like that, to which Austin replies that he is, in fact, throwing away his father's dream. He makes up with Sam and kisses her in public, and everyone starts clapping for them, much to the consternation of Shelby and the stepsisters. At the very same time it starts raining. Also the Fighting Frogs win the game even without Austin playing.

In the end, Sam finds her father's hidden will which leaves everything to her. Fiona is arrested for questioning by the district attorney for keeping it a secret when her signature was plainly on the witness line of the document. Sam sells the cars to pay for her college tuition. The stepsisters manage to find Sam's real Princeton-acceptance letter in the garbage, where they had 'filed' it. Hal's Diner is finally restored to normal, and, after making a deal with the district attorney, Fiona is forced work at the diner as the new diner girl to pay off her community service debts, under supervision from Rhonda. Brianna and Gabriella are working there as well, since their mother is no longer wealthy. Carter gets a role in a commercial, which becomes a success, thus landing Shelby's interest, but Carter sees her for the monster she really is and publicly rejects her for the school's radio presenter Astrid. The last scene shows Sam and Austin sitting where at the start of the movie, Sam is shown with her car, and Austin is returning her phone. As a testament to the dance he starts attaching it to her ankle, which is how it was attached at the party, but she takes it before he can finish and they kiss then ride off to Princeton to spend their new future together.

My Bloody Valentine (2009)

Eleven years ago, a cave-in on the north side of a mine trapped five miners. Six weeks later when rescue teams arrived, they found four dead miners and Harry Warden (Richard John Walters) who survived by killing the other miners with a pick-axe, and is in a coma. Tom Hanniger (Jensen Ackles) is under suspicion to have committed the crime. Finally he is blamed for the mine disaster because he forgot to vent the methane lines.

The following year on Valentine's Day, Warden wakes up from his coma, killing many in the process. At the abandoned mineshaft that was the site of the disaster, a party is in full swing, attended by many teens, including Axel (Kerr Smith), his girlfriend Irene (Betsy Rue), Tom Hanniger, and his girlfriend, Sarah (Jaime King). Sarah goes in alone and gets lost looking for Axel and Irene. She runs across a teen and a few seconds later he is stabbed in the back of his head through his eye. She is confronted by Harry Warden in full miner's garb, carrying a bloody pick-axe, and flees for safety; Axel grabs her and they hide from the killer. He also kills someone with a shovel by cutting her head off in half via the jaw (although she survives for a tiny while until he pushes it in harder). He eventually sees them, and they run out of the mine, where they run into Tom coming in. The killer hits him with the pick axe, injuring him, while the other three run for the car and leave him behind. Tom runs back into the mine in an attempt to get away from the killer; just as he's about to be killed, the police arrive and shoot the killer, but he makes his getaway back into the mine.

Ten years later, Tom's father, whom Tom was estranged from, dies and Tom inherits the mine. Tom then returns to town after his father's funeral to sell the mine. Axel is now sheriff and married to Sarah, however he is cheating on her with Megan who helps out his wife at her grocery store, who admits to Axel after they finish having sex, that she is pregnant with his child. In quick succession, Irene is murdered by Harry Warden at the motel where Tom is staying, then as Tom goes to check out his newly inherited mine, a miner is murdered. While in the mine, when Warden appears, Tom is forced into a cage and Warden bends the metal latch on the door; making Tom's escape impossible. Warden then brutally murders the miner who was accompanying Tom on his journey into the mine, as Tom is forced to watch. As the rest of the mining crew arrive to see what is the matter, Warden flees, and suspicion is cast on Tom; despite the fact that he was locked in a cage the entire time. Sheriff Axel then asks his father, the retired sheriff, what happened to Warden. He says that he and Tom's father killed and buried him. Axel, Tom, Sarah and Axel's father go to the spot where Warden was buried to see that his body is no longer there.

Next, the current mine manager and Megan are killed by Warden. Tom picks Sarah up to take her to Axel's love nest to convince her that Axel is the killer. Axel then calls her and tells her that Tom is the killer. She crashes Tom's car and makes her way to Axel's shack. Sarah is chased by the killer all the way to the mine. There, Sarah goes into the shaft where the original murders took place, where she is joined by both Tom and Axel, and after a brief stand off, Axel and Sarah realize that Tom is delusional. A montage then plays out all the murders in the film again; this time showing the aftermath and beforehand, revealing Tom to be the killer. The killing in the mine in which Tom was locked in the cage, is played out again, this time showing Tom commit the murder, then lock himself in the cage; revealing Warden locking him in to be a hallucination. Sarah shoots a tank and causes an explosion, and subsequently a partial cave-in. She and Axel escape, believing and reporting Tom to be dead. A rescue team comes in to the mine to look for survivors, but Tom kills one of the rescuers and escapes the scene dressed in the rescue worker's clothing.

Friday The 13th 2009 movie

Friday the 13th is an American horror franchise that consists of twelve slasher films, a television show, novels, comic books, and tie-in merchandise. The franchise mainly focuses on the fictional character of Jason Voorhees, who drowned at Camp Crystal Lake as a boy due to the negligence of the camp staff. Decades later, the lake is rumored to be "cursed" and is the setting for a series of mass murders. Jason features in all of the films, either as the killer or the motivation for the killings. The original film was written by Victor Miller, and was produced and directed by Sean S. Cunningham; neither returned to write or direct any of the sequels.

The first film was created to cash in on the success of Halloween (1978),[2] and its own success led Paramount Pictures to purchase the full licensing rights to the Friday the 13th franchise. Frank Mancuso, Jr., who produced the films, also developed the television show Friday the 13th: The Series after Paramount released Jason Takes Manhattan. The television series was not connected to the franchise by any character or setting, but was created based on the idea of "bad luck and curses", which the film series symbolized.[3] While the franchise was owned by Paramount, four films were adapted into novels, with Friday the 13th Part III adapted by two separate authors. When the franchise was sold to New Line Cinema, Cunningham returned as a producer to oversee two additional films, as well as the crossover film with Freddy Krueger from the Nightmare on Elm Street film series. Under New Line, thirteen novellas and various comic book series were published featuring Jason.

Although the films were not popular with critics, Friday the 13th is considered one of the most successful media franchises in America—not only for the success of the films, but also because of the extensive merchandising and repeated references to the series in popular culture.[4] The franchise's popularity has generated a fanbase who have created their own Friday the 13th films, replica Jason Voorhees costumes, and tattooed their bodies with Friday the 13th artwork. Jason’s hockey mask has even become one of the most recognizable images in popular culture.

In 2009, a new Friday the 13th was released, which restarts the film series continuity. In this film, after witnessing his mother being beheaded, Jason (Derek Mears) follows in her footsteps and kills anyone who comes to Crystal Lake. Almost thirty years later, Jason kidnaps a young woman who reminds him of his mother. Six weeks after her disappearance, her brother Clay Miller (Jared Padalecki) comes to look for her. The pair reunite and work together to seemingly kill Jason.

Scooby-doo And The Samurai Sword

At a Tokyo museum of ancient history, Mr. Takagawa, the curator, and Kenji, a janitor, witness the resurrection of The Black Samurai, an ancient Japanese warrior whose armor was to be the newest exhibit at the museum. The next day, the Mystery Inc. gang arrives at Tokyo, where Daphne is to participate in a martial arts tournament at a prestigious school. The gang meet Daphne’s friend Miyumi, who explains the difficulty of winning the tournament and entering the school as a student. The gang and Miyumi take a fully functioning robotic plane to the school, which is run by Miss Mirimoto. After Daphne defeats Miss Mirimoto’s bodyguard, Sojo, and almost defeats Miyumi, Mirimoto tells her she shows promise as a fighter. Also at the tournament is Mr. Takagawa, who explains to Mirimoto that the Black Samurai has risen and will be after the Destiny Scroll, which is at the school. That night, during a feast, the Black Samurai and his Ninja warriors attack the school and steal the scroll. But Mirimoto explains the scroll was only a copy, and shows the gang the real one. Mr. Takagawa explains to the gang the legend of the Black Samurai.

The Black Samurai was an ancient warrior who asked a sword maker to craft a powerful sword. The sword maker agreed, but told the Samurai it would take a year to make. The Samurai’s evil servant offered to make another sword for the Samurai in only half the time, which the Samurai accepted. But when the Samurai took the sword, the evil of the servant was transferred to him, and he became the Black Samurai, and the sword the Sword of Doom. When the sword maker finished crafting his sword, The Sword of Fate, he presented it to The Green Dragam, who used it to defeat the Black Samurai and imprisoned him in the sword. The Dragon then hid the Sword, and put its whereabouts in a riddle on the Destiny Scroll.

Velma is able to solve the riddle, and Miss Mirimoto instructs the gang, Miyimi, and Mr. Takagawa to find the Sword of Doom before the spirit can. The gang finds the sword in a cave on an island in the Pacific Ocean, where they are attacked by the Black Samurai. During the fight the Black Samurai is revealed to be Sojo. But once the gang brings Sojo back to Miss Mirimoto, she and Miyumi capture them. Miss Mirimoto explains that she staged the tournament to bring Mystery, Inc to Japan so that they would find the Sword of Doom for her. The ninja army is revealed to be robots in which Miss Mirimoto planted the various fighting techniques of her students. She then locks Fred, Daphne, Velma, and Mr. Takagawa in the museum.

Scooby and Shaggy manage to escape Miss Mirimoto but are chased by the ninja warriors. They are saved by Matsuhiro, a Samurai, who trains them as Samurai. Matsuhiro instructs Scooby and Shaggy to pass through the gates of earth, water, air, and fire in order to find the Green Dragon and the Sword of Fate. When they do so, the Green Dragon enters the sword and takes them back to the museum to combat the Black Samurai. Kenji frees Fred, Daphne, Velma, and Mr. Takagawa, and they, plus Miyumi, who decides to fight with them, attempt to stop Sojo and Miss Mirimoto from resurrecting the Black Samurai, but are unsuccessful. Scooby and Shaggy arrive and, along with a little encouragement from Matsuhiro, defeat the Black Samurai by using the Sword of Fate. Later, the gang attends the newly renovated museum, where a statue of Scooby is erected in his honor.

Into The Blue 2: The Reef

The film then begins in Honolulu, Hawaii. The person who dumped the large containers goes to meet with a few guys in suits expecting to get paid. But because he dumped the containers and altered the schedule of those container shipments to the customer, he is killed.

We are then taken underwater in the blue ocean as Sebastian (Chris Carmack) and his wife Dani (Laura Vandervoort) are dive surfing with a model. We learn that the group own a snorkeling business that rents out equipment for clients. Sebastian doesn't want to do this line of work forever.

For Sebastian, there are countless treasures in the ocean that he has been in search of for a long time but one that he has been searching for four years is the Spanish ship San Cristobal, which sank somewhere near the North Reef and is rumored to have sunk in the ocean with a lot of treasure.

Sebastian believes that if he finds this treasure, this will give him and his wife the opportunity to live a better life.

Sebastian hangs out with his friend and employee Mace (Michael Graziadei) and his girlfriend Kimi (Mircea Monroe), Dani's best friend, who are a couple that have a difficult relationship because Avery tends to mess around with other women. Where Mace and Kimi have a crazy relationship, Sebastian and Dani are very much in love.

While at work, they are visited by Carlton (David Anders) and Azra (Marsha Thomason), a couple who wants to hire them for diving in the North Reef for a week because they are looking for the San Cristobal.

Of course, Sebastian has been trying for several years to find it but Carlton happens to have a map which may lead them to the treasure. So, both Sebastian and Dani agree to help the couple. The four go on various diving expeditions to find treasure.

We then get to see some of the beach life as all six individuals enjoy the beach. Dani, Kimi, Sebastian, and Mace get involved in separate beach volleyball competitions. Sebastian and Mace go against their main diving competitors, Avery (Rand Holdren) who dates a girl named Kelsey (Audrina Patridge) who loves to lecture him when he gets into trouble by messing around with women.

While at a club, a random guy hits on the women and grabs the arm of Azra, who quickly puts him in a headlock. This raises the first red flag for Dani who becomes suspicious.

The following day, we learn that Carlton is not really looking for the San Cristobal. He actually helps big clients smuggle treasure to other locations. Both Carlton and Azra tell Sebastian and Dani that if they help them find the two containers, they will earn $500,000. Also, we learn that if Carlton doesn't find the containers in a week, the men will kill them. The reason why he is willing to pay them a lot of money is part of an apology because the men who hired him know the names of Sebastian and Dani and their lives are in danger too.

So, now both Sebastian and Dani are forced to help Carlton and Azra find the two containers but while they are at sea, Avery takes notice and he starts looking to find whatever they are looking for.

With their lives threatened, Dani convinces Sebastian that they must look to see what is in those containers and why their lives are being threatened. Something terrible could be in those containers and that they need to check them without bringing Carlton and Azra along.

Thus, the two take their boat out to see late at night to dive and see what those containers are. What they find in the containers are not treasure but a bomb. When they return from their boat after the dive, they are greeted by Carlton and Azra, who have been hiding in their boat and are ready to kill them. Carlton tells him that in container one there is the casing and in container two there is a nuclear warhead. One without the other is useless but together it creates a powerful weapon. Their goal is to create a second Pearl Harbor. Dani jumps off the boat to try and get help but is put in the hospital. Azra tries to kill her but she runs away and there is a chase scene. Meanwhile, Sebastian and Mace try to bring up the containers with bombs in them. Mace purposely messes up and Kimi is killed. Sebastian and Mace rebel ending in Carlton and his bodyguard dead. Dani out runs Azra and Azra kills her boss so she can dissappear. Dani, Sebastiann, and Mace reunite. They have Kimi's funeral and buy the someday boat.

Watchmen

The story takes place in an alternate timeline in which masked, costumed vigilantes fight crime in America. In the 1930s and 40s, the vigilantes form a group called The Minutemen. Decades later, a second generation of superheroes attempt to form a team as well, calling themselves The Watchmen. Various historical events are shown to have been altered or impacted by the existence of superheroes, such as The assassination of John F. Kennedy and The Vietnam War. The American victory in the Vietnam War, due to the intervention of the godlike being Dr. Manhattan, leads to Richard Nixon's third term as President following the repeal of term limits in the United States. By the 1980s, however, the Watchmen have been outlawed, and tensions between the United States and the Soviet Union have escalated The Cold War with threats of nuclear attack.

By 1985, only three adventurers remain active: The Comedian and Dr. Manhattan, who act with government sanction, and the masked vigilante Rorschach, who refuses to retire and remains active illegally. Investigating the murder of government agent Edward Blake, Rorschach, knowing that Blake was The Comedian, concludes that someone is trying to eliminate masked heroes. He goes off to warn his retired comrades: the emotionally detached Dr. Manhattan and his lover Laurie Jupiter (the second Silk Spectre), Dan Dreiberg (the second Nite Owl), and Adrian Veidt (Ozymandias), but makes little progress.

After Blake's funeral, Dr. Manhattan is accused of causing the cancers afflicting his former girlfriend and colleagues from before the accident that turned him into the being he is now. Manhattan exiles himself to Mars, giving the Soviet Union the confidence to invade Afghanistan in his absence. Later, Rorschach's conspiracy theory appears to be justified when Adrian, who had long since made his identity as Ozymandias public before retiring, narrowly avoids an assassination attempt, and Rorschach himself is framed for murder.

Meanwhile, Laurie, having previously broken up with Manhattan, falls in love with Dan, and the two former heroes decide to come out of retirement as they grow closer to one another. After breaking Rorschach out of prison alongside Nite Owl, Silk Spectre is confronted by Manhattan, who takes her to Mars and explains he is no longer interested in humanity, denying her request to intervene. Probing her memories, they both discover that The Comedian is her father. His interest in humanity renewed, Manhattan returns to Earth with Silk Spectre.

Investigating further into the conspiracy, Rorschach and Nite Owl discover that Adrian may be behind everything. Rorschach records his suspicions in his journal, and posts it to a newspaper office. Rorschach and Nite Owl confront Adrian, presumably now Ozymandias once again, in his Antarctic retreat. Ozymandias confirms that he is the mastermind behind The Comedian's murder, Manhattan's exile, and the framing of Rorschach; he also staged his own assassination attempt to place himself above suspicion. He explains that his plan is to unify the United States and Soviet Union and prevent nuclear war by destroying the world's main cities with exploding energy reactors he had Dr. Manhattan create for him under the pretense of providing free energy for the world. Rorschach and Nite Owl attempt to stop him, only to find his plan has already been enacted; the energy signatures are recognized as Dr. Manhattan's, and the two opposing sides of the Cold War unite to combat their "common enemy."

Laurie and Manhattan arrive at the ruins of New York City and realize Ozymandias's plan. They arrive to confront him, only to agree that, with the cessation of hostilities around the world, this conspiracy is best left unrevealed to the public. Rorschach, however, is unwilling to compromise, and leaves to reveal the truth. He is confronted by Manhattan who vaporizes him after stating that only death would stop him from revealing the truth. Manhattan shares a final kiss with Laurie and departs for another galaxy.

With the end of The Cold War and the transformation of humanity into a united front, Laurie and Dan return to the destroyed New York City, which is being rebuilt, and begin a new life. Meanwhile, a newspaper editor in New York complains about how there is nothing worthwhile to print; he lets a young employee look for something to run in a collection of crank letters, among which is Rorschach's journal.

Observe and Report

An anonymous flasher exposes himself to shoppers in the Forest Ridge Mall parking lot. The head of mall security, Ronnie Barnhardt, makes it his mission to apprehend the offender. He is assisted by the Yuen twins, Charles and Dennis in his efforts. At home, Ronnie has a loving but dysfunctional relationship with his alcoholic mother.

Ronnie's dream girl, Brandi who works a mall make-up counter, is flashed the next day, becoming distraught over the situation. Ronnie tries to comfort her until a police officer, Detective Harrison, arrives and takes over Ronnie's palliative role. Ronnie feels threatened by this and is upset that his boss allowed an outside person to infringe on his search for the offender.

The criminal activity at the mall continues, as a masked person is seen robbing a shoe store, causing property damage. Detective Harrison is once again called in to investigate, his efforts hindered by Ronnie's unusual attempts to resolve the matter. In response, Harrison curses out Ronnie during a meeting with Ronnie's superior. In defiance of the detective’s angry rant, Ronnie decides to take the steps necessary to become a real police officer.

Ronnie obtains preliminary documents needed to become a police officer from a recruiting station, including forms for a physical and a psychological profile check, as well as entertaining the idea of a ride-along with a policeman on patrol. Ronnie decides to ride along with Detective Harrison. Harrison, fed up with Ronnie, tricks him into walking into the most dangerous part of town, and drives off. Ronnie then confronts and subsequently subdues several drug dealers, victoriously returning to the police station with a dealer's son and thanking the detective for the opportunity to prove himself.

Emboldened, Ronnie arranges a date with Brandi, seeking advice from Nell, a friendly food court worker, who recommends that he just be himself, which Ronnie declares as bad advice. That night, Brandi arrives home very late, forgetting the date. Undeterred, Ronnie still takes her out. She consumes a large quantity of alcohol as well as several tablets of clonazepam which she took from Ronnie. Ronnie takes her home and has intercourse with her, despite the fact that she has vomited on the pillow and nearly passed out.

Ronnie's optimism is deflated after learning he will never be able to become a police officer, due to his failure of the psychological examination, where he told the examiner disturbing stories about his fantasies about law enforcement. The audience also learns that the pills Ronnie gave Brandi were his medication for his bipolar disorder, and he no longer has them now. Depressed, he is coerced by Dennis to spend the day doing a wide variety of drugs and assaulting skateboarding teenagers. At the end of the day, Ronnie finds out that Dennis was the shoe thief, and that he has been stealing from the mall for quite some time. Ronnie is stunned and, after a brief argument, is knocked unconscious from behind by Dennis, who then flees to Mexico.

After being chewed out by his boss for not realizing that Dennis was the thief, Ronnie decides to go “undercover” in order to catch the flasher. Before he is undercover, Nell explains to him that her boss Roger and another female employee make fun of Nell for having her leg in a cast, leading Ronnie to threaten the two after giving Roger a severe beating. At night he sees Harrison having intercourse with Brandi in his cruiser, which compels him to confront her in front of onlookers at the mall the next day, breaking the glass of a display case, getting him into trouble with the law. Refusing to leave the mall, police are called in to remove Ronnie and arrest him. Not going quietly, Ronnie fights off many officers, before eventually being beaten in a one-on-one fist fight with Detective Harrison.

After a brief time in jail, and a few days of recovery, Ronnie returns to the mall, although now no longer as a security guard. He is approached by Nell back on both legs, and she kisses him to console him. Interrupting their romantic moment, the pervert flashes Nell and Ronnie and runs off, exposing himself to many other mall patrons. Ronnie, pursuing the flasher in a slow-motion sequence, retrieves a gun from a closet and shoots the flasher (although non-fatally) as he approaches Brandi. She thanks him, but Ronnie yells at her and humiliates her for having sex with Harrison.

Refusing the flasher an ambulance, Ronnie takes him to the police station, impressing and insulting the officers who had previously ridiculed him. A victorious Ronnie is then interviewed with the other security guards and he is accompanied by Nell, who is now his new girlfriend, and he returns back to his job as the head of mall security.

The Last House on the Left

After settling their affairs, Emma (Monica Potter), John (Tony Goldwyn), and Mari Collingwood (Sara Paxton) head out on vacation to their lake house. Shortly after arriving, Mari borrows the family car and drives into town to spend time with her friend Paige (Martha MacIsaac). While Paige works the cash register at a local store, she and Mari meet Justin (Spencer Treat Clark), a teenager passing through the town who invites them both back to his hotel room to smoke some weed. While the three are hanging out in the hotel room, Krug (Garret Dillahunt), Justin’s father, Francis (Aaron Paul), Justin’s uncle, and Sadie (Riki Lindhome), Krug’s girlfriend, arrive.

Krug shows Justin a local newspaper that has Krug’s and Sadie’s pictures on the front page, and which explains how Sadie and Francis broke Krug out of police custody and killed the two officers that were transporting him. Believing it too risky to let Paige and Mari go, Krug kidnaps them and uses their vehicle to leave town. While Krug searches for the highway, Mari convinces him to take a road that leads him to her parent’s lake house; Mari then attempts to jump out of the vehicle, but the ensuing fight amongst all the passengers causes Krug to crash into a tree. Frustrated by Mari’s attempts to escape, Sadie and Francis proceed to beat Mari as she crawls away from the wreckage. Krug attempts to teach his son to "be a man" by forcing him to fondle Mari’s breasts. When Justin refuses Krug decides to rape Mari. Paige begins insulting him to get him to stop, which causes Krug to pause momentarily only to stab Paige in the stomach twice. As Mari watches Paige bleed to death she is raped by Krug. Afterward, Mari musters enough strength to escape the group and make it to the lake so that she can swim to safety. Before she can swim far enough Krug shoots her in the back, leaving her to bleed out in the lake.

A storm forces Krug and his gang to seek refuge with John and Emma, whose home is nearby. Justin realizes that they are Mari’s parents, and intentionally leaves a necklace Mari was wearing on the counter to alert them about their daughter. When John and Emma find Mari, barely alive, on their porch, along with the necklace from the counter, they realize that the people who did this to Mari are in their home. As they try and find the key to their boat, so that they can take Mari to the hospital, they decide to get revenge on those responsible. When Francis happens upon Mari’s body he is attacked and killed by John and Emma. When the couple go after Krug and Sadie they find Justin in possession of Krug’s gun; Justin gives the gun to John so he can kill Krug. Sadie awakens and interrupts John, allowing Krug the chance to escape the couple where he pieces together that they are Mari’s parents. After Emma shoots Sadie in the head, John runs after Krug. With a combined effort from Emma, John, and Justin, Krug is knocked unconscious. John paralyzes Krug from the neck down, and leaves him to die with his head in an active microwave; then he, Emma, Mari, and Justin take the boat to the local hospital.

Artificial Intelligence: AI

The story is set in the mid-21st century. Global warming has led to ecological disasters all over the world, and a drastic reduction of the human population. Mankind's efforts to maintain civilization lead to the creation of "mechas," advanced humanoid robots capable of emulating human thoughts and emotions. Among these androids there is an advanced prototype model named David, a mecha created by the Cybertronics company to resemble a human child and to "feel" love for its human owners. They test their creation on one of their employees, Henry Swinton and his wife Monica. The Swintons have a son, Martin, who has been placed in suspended animation until a cure can be found for his rare disease. Although Monica is initially frightened of David, she eventually warms to him after activating his imprinting protocol, which irreversibly causes David to feel love for her as a child loves a parent. As he continues to live with the Swintons, David is befriended by Teddy, a mecha toy, who takes upon himself the responsibility of David's well being.

Martin is suddenly cured and brought home; a sibling rivalry ensues between Martin and David. Martin's scheming behavior backfires when he and his friends activate David's self-protection programming at a pool party. Martin is saved from drowning but David's actions prove too much for Henry. It is decided for David to be destroyed at the factory where he was built, but Monica rather leaves him (alongside Teddy) in a forest to live as unregistered mechas. David is captured for an anti-mecha Flesh Fair, an event where useless mechas are destroyed before cheering crowds. David is nearly killed, but the crowd is swayed by his realistic nature and he escapes, along with Gigolo Joe (Jude Law), a male prostitute mecha on the run after being framed for murder.

The two set out to find the Blue Fairy, whom David remembers from the story The Adventures of Pinocchio. As in the story, he believes that she will transform him into a real boy, so Monica will love him and take him back. Joe and David make their way to the decadent metropolis of Rouge City. Information from a holographic volumetric display answer engine called "Dr. Know" eventually leads them to the top of the Rockefeller Center in the flooded ruins of Manhattan. David's human creator, Professor Hobby, enters and excitedly tells David that finding him was a test, which has demonstrated the reality of his love and desire. A disheartened David attempts to commit suicide by falling from a ledge into the ocean, but Joe rescues him, just as he is captured by the authorities.

David and Teddy take a submersible to the fairy, which turns out to be a statue from a submerged attraction at Coney Island. Teddy and David become trapped when the park's ferris wheel falls on their vehicle. Believing the Blue Fairy to be real, he asks to be turned into a real boy, repeating his wish without end, until the ocean freezes. 2000 years later, Manhattan is buried under several hundred feet of glacial ice, and humans are extinct.[1] Mechas have evolved into an alien-looking humanoid form.[2] They find David and Teddy: functional mechas who knew living humans. David wakes up and realizes the fairy was fake. Using David's memories, the mechas reconstruct the Swinton home, and explain to him via a mecha of the Blue Fairy that he cannot become human. However, they recreate Monica from a lock of her hair which has been faithfully saved by Teddy, but she will live for only a single day and the process cannot be repeated. David spends the happiest day of his life playing with Monica and Teddy. Monica tells David that she loves him and has always loved him as she drifts to sleep for her final time. This was the "everlasting moment" he had been looking for, he closes his eyes, falls asleep for his first time, and goes "to that place where dreams are born".

State of Play

A thief is fleeing through Washington DC at night and is shot dead with a silenced pistol by a man carrying a briefcase. The killer also shoots a pizza delivery man who sees the incident, who is left in a coma. The killer flees. The next day, a young woman is traveling to work, where she is killed on a platform by a subway train in an apparent suicide. Congressman Steven Collins is distraught to hear the news, as the woman was Sonya, a lead researcher on his staff. His tears on live TV lead to headlines of an affair. Congressman Collins, who has military experience, is leading an investigation into PointCorp, a private defense contractor with controversial operations involving mercenaries. Reporter Cal McAffrey is a long-time friend of Congressman Collins, and unable to go home he turns up with nowhere to go. The two discuss Sonya's death at Cal's home. Collins reveals that he had been having an affair with Sonya, and that Sonya had sent him a video message on the morning of her death which comes across as inconsistent with someone about to commit suicide. Della Frye, a colleague and fellow reporter of Cal's, originally looking into the sex scandal approaches Cal for information on his friend. The two start to work together and she discovers that Sonya's death occurred in one of only three CCTV blind spots on the metro platform. Cal believes the two shootings are related to Sonya's death and has his bag stolen by a homeless girl who is a friend of the murdered man. She gives him some photographs which the thief, a friend of hers, took out of the killer's briefcase they stole for ransom money before returning it to him showing surveillance images of Sonya talking to a well-dressed man.

Della visits the hospital where the pizza delivery man is regaining consciousness. She bumps into a man while exiting an elevator. She then sees the pizza man in his hospital bed get shot dead by an unseen sniper. Distraught, she returns to her newspaper's office and reviews CCTV footage. She notices the same man appearing on the metro platform footage and footage of the exterior of the hospital, and recognizes him as the man she bumped into in the hospital. Cal then asks a connection he has who used to work inside PointCorp to find information regarding the man. He reveals that PointCorp stands to gain 40 billion dollars annually from its mercenary activities in the United States although only 4 billion is noticed in the trial as most of the money was made from inside the US operations. Cal speaks with Congressman Collins, who shares his research findings - PointCorp is operating a near monopoly with 14 defense contractors all linking to PointCorp who supply Government surveillance and defense contracts, essentially privatizing and monopolizing United States security.

Cal's PointCorp insider later returns with the address of someone linked to the suspected assassin. Cal visits the address only to find the assassin living there, who asks his business. Terrified, Cal makes an excuse and tries to leave. Stalked by the man, Cal calls the police who arrive and force the man to disappear after shooting at Cal. Della, following a lead, finds the identity of the well-dressed man speaking to Sonya in the photographs - a PR executive working for a subsidiary of PointCorp. Cal blackmails him into talking about his activities with Sonya, their conversation secretly taped by Cal in a hotel room. He reveals she was paid generously to spy on Congressman Collins for PointCorp, but eventually didnt take the $26,000 a month as she loved Collins and was pregnant with his baby when she was killed. Cal calls Collins to show him the video - the two fall out.

Before Cal's paper goes to press, Collins turn up with his wife to go on record and presents his damning PointCorp research. After posting the story Cal notices Collins' wife knows more about Sonya than previously thought, and finds a photo of Collins with the murderer and rushes to Collins' office to speak with him. He reveals that he had been suspicious of Sonya in their relationship, and the assassin was hired by him to watch Sonya. The assassin is in fact Corporal Bingham, a former military colleague of Collins', and Collins had saved his life when he was young. He said Bingham didn't trust Sonya and killed her with no authorization from Collins. Cal goes to his car where he is confronted by Bingham in full military uniform, who says he needs to kill for a friend. Cal ducks, and federal officers shoot Bingham after his missed shot. Back at the office, Cal and Della type up their newspaper story and walk off together. The film credits roll with footage of the newspaper being printed.

Taken

Bryan Mills (Liam Neeson) is a retired CIA operative, called a "preventer", from their elite Special Activities Division. He has retired to spend more time with his 17-year-old daughter Kim (Maggie Grace), who now lives with his ex-wife Lenore (Famke Janssen) and her new wealthy husband Stuart (Xander Berkeley). When pop diva Sheerah (Holly Valance) comes to town, friends and former co-workers of Mills, who now run a security outfit, offer him a job for the night. After the show, Sheerah is attacked, but Bryan disables the assailant and gets her safely out of danger. Thankful, Sheerah expresses some interest in Mills' daughter after learning that Kim wants to be a singer herself. Sheerah passes along her contact information.

The next day, Mills discovers that Kim wants to take a holiday trip to Paris, with her friend Amanda (Katie Cassidy). Despite his initial concerns about the trip, Mills allows her to go, later discovering that their actual plan is to travel around Europe following the band U2. Arriving at the Paris airport, Kim and Amanda meet a Frenchman named Peter (Nicolas Giraud), who learns their address and reports it to an unseen associate.

In the house, Kim receives a phone call from her father, which she answers in the bathroom. From the bathroom window, she sees men entering the main room and abducting Amanda. Mills is able to gain critical information about the kidnappers in the final moments after Kim is kidnapped by telling her to shout out everything about them that she notices. Briefly, Mills talks to one of the kidnappers, warning him that unless Kim is released, he will pursue him and kill him, to which the kidnapper replies "good luck" before smashing her phone.

Exploiting government contacts and the business connections of his ex-wife’s husband, Mills travels to Paris to find Kim, informed that the kidnappers are Albanian mafia lead by a man named Marko, and that he has only about 96 hours to recover his daughter before she will "disappear forever". Mills uses digital photos from the memory card of the smashed remains of Kim's phone to locate Peter, who is killed by an ice cream van while trying to escape. Mills manages to save one of the kidnapped girls from the Albanians, and she discloses to him the address of the house where the kidnappers are holding other girls. Mills finds the house and several other abducted women - including Amanda, who is dead from a forced heroin overdose. Later, by torturing Marko, Mills learns that Kim was sold to a man named Patrice Saint-Clair, who showed interest in making a profit from selling virgins. After wreaking havoc in the streets of Paris, Mills is hunted by the French authorities, including his old ally Jean-Claude (Olivier Rabourdin), who wants him to return to the United States. Undeterred, Mills forces Jean-Claude to give him Saint-Clair's location by shooting Jean-Claude's wife in the arm and revealing he knows Jean-Claude received bribes for overlooking the trafficking.

By impersonating Jean-Claude, Mills gains entry to the building where new girls are being sold, and secures entry to one of the buyers’ viewing booths. He sees his daughter as she is displayed on the auction block. However, he is captured before he can engineer an escape for himself and Kim. Mills manages to escape and find Saint-Clair, whom he kills after learning that his daughter is being taken by Qatar clients. Mills manages to follow the car Kim is being taken in, and sees her being transported away on a yacht. He jumps on to the ship from a bridge and kills everyone in his way, finally freeing his daughter. Back in the U.S., Kim is reunited with her mother, and Mills finally introduces her to Sheerah, having arranged an audition with her vocal coach.

The Uninvited

The movie begins with a young girl, Anna (Emily Browning), making out with her boyfriend Matt on the beach at a party. After he tells Anna he loves her and has "a condom", she gets up to leave. As she goes, her sister Alex (Arielle Kebbel) asks if everything is all right. On her way through the woods to her house, Anna encounters three white garbage bags. When she goes to open them, the cadaver of a redheaded girl falls out. As Anna recoils, the girl's head snaps around and speaks. Screaming and afraid, Anna runs home. She then hears a bell that her terminally ill mother rings when she needs something. Anna is concerned because her mother is not supposed to be alone. However, after she leaves the boathouse her mother is in, it explodes into flames and a piece of debris comes flying towards her, burning her. It is then revealed that this is a dream Anna is having.

She has been in a mental hospital since the death of her mother ten months earlier, but her psychiatrist believes she is ready to leave. He tells her to "finish what she started". As Anna packs, another patient comes in, asking Anna who she will tell her stories to now that Anna is leaving. Anna's father takes her home, where she is joyfully reunited with her sister, Alex, who is angry, asks why Anna never responded to the mail she sent her. Anna then tells her that she never received any letters; Alex yells at their father for not sending them. He ignores her. Anna also sees Rachel (Elizabeth Banks), her mother's former nurse who is now dating Anna's father. Later that night, Anna overhears Rachel and her father having sex, so she turns up her music to a louder volume. She also has nightmares about a dead body trying to grab hold of her, but when she wakes up, it is merely Alex standing over her.

The next day, Anna meets with Matt, her former boyfriend. Matt tells Anna he knows what happened the night of the fire. However, Rachel comes before he can say anything more and sends him away. That night, Anna wonders to herself if the fire that killed their mother was not an accident. The next day, she and Rachel go into town so Anna can talk to Rachel. At a diner, Rachel discusses her former patients with Anna, telling her that the only way she got through it was by reminding herself that the people she was caring for would be dead soon. She also showed Anna her pearls, saying they were a gift from one of her patients. Anna sees the little redheaded girl from her dream along with two little boys sitting on the chairs, but in a moment they are gone.

When Anna meets up with Matt, he tells her he will meet her at "the rock" that night to tell her what he saw. Anna and Alex wait on the rock for a while. When Matt doesn't show up, Anna goes back home and upstairs to her bedroom. Matt comes into her room through the window, saying he hurt his back. They speak for a few minutes and then begin to kiss, but when Anna runs her hand down his back, she touches a bone, which had snapped. He grabs her arms as she recoils in horror. Anna runs out of the room, but when she opens the door again, Matt is gone. The next day they find out that Matt had fallen into the water, snapped his back, and drowned, on his way to see Anna. Anna shows Alex that there are bruises on her arms where Matt grabbed her. Alex explains that Rachel had gotten rid of Matt because he saw what she did on the night of the fire. With Matt gone, only Anna and Alex are in the way of Rachel and her obsession with their father. Alex becomes scared for them both.

Later that night, Anna and Alex start research session and learn that Rachel is perpetrating identity theft. Anna confronts Rachel, who becomes angry and tells Anna if she says anything, she'll be sent back to the mental hospital. That night, Rachel has a dinner party that Anna inadvertently ruins after the red-haired girl comes out from under the stove, telling Anna that "she's next". The girls' father goes for a business trip on the day of Matt's funeral, and the redheaded girl shows Anna to the gravestones of a family of five. Later that day, she researches the children of the family. The suspected killer was a woman named Mildred Kemp, who was the nanny of the three children after their mother had died in a car accident a year before. The killer had heavily sedated the children before stabbing them repeatedly. In a picture, Anna sees the mother wearing a pearl necklace just like Rachel's. The two sisters begin to think that Rachel and Mildred are one and the same.

Alex and Anna try to get to the pearls as evidence for a case against their father's girlfriend. A struggle ensues between Anna and Rachel, but Anna manages to get the pearls. When she goes upstairs to check if Alex is okay, she finds that Rachel has heavily drugged her with the needles Anna and Alex found earlier, and she must leave Alex behind. Anna finds Rachel's car keys and tries to drive away, but the car stalls and Rachel catches up to her, only to be dragged to the ground once Anna manages to start the car again and drive off.

At the police station Anna explains everything, begging the police officer to hurry because Alex is still at the house. He leaves, and while he is gone Anna falls asleep and dreams about her mother, but as she gets closer to her, the dream ends, replacing her mother with Rachel, who, with the police officer's help, sedates Anna and takes her back to the house where she suspects Rachel will kill her. As Rachel prepares to dress Anna in her pajamas, Anna reaches for the knife on the dresser, but can't grasp it. As the drugs are taking over, Anna sees Alex creeping up behind Rachel before she finally blacks out. Once Anna wakes up once more, she sees a trail of blood that leads to the body of Rachel outside in a dumpster. Alex steps out from the woods covered in blood, holding the knife and exclaiming that she had to do it. They hug and clasp hands when their father pulls up into the driveway. Anna and Alex begin explaining what happened. Alex tells her dad that he never listens to her, but now he should. Anna and Alex tells their father what happened, and when Anna kept asking Alex to tell their father what she did to Rachel, her father grasps her and tells her that Alex is dead; she had died in the fire a year ago (which would explain why nobody paid attention or listened to what we knew as Alex earlier in the film).

Anna looks around for Alex, but realizes she is alone. Suddenly, she notices Alex standing in the shadows. As Anna slowly walks toward her, she sees that it's her reflection in a mirror, with the blood-stained clothing and holding the bloody knife instead of Alex.

It is revealed that the night of the party, once Anna had come home, she had seen Rachel and her father having sex. Disgusted, she went to the boathouse to fill a watering can with gasoline so she could burn down the house. However, she did not shut off the faucet all the way, and when she slammed the door, Alex accidentally knocked over a lantern. Once the gasoline reached the lantern the boathouse exploded, killing her mother and Alex. Through a series of flashbacks, we see that Alex had never really been there, and that Anna had been the one who killed Matt (because he knew what really happened on the night of the fire) and Rachel, and that Rachel was not truly evil. Rachel was only about to drug Anna because she needed to be sedated, because she was imagining things. Anna is arrested and institutionalized once again.

While Anna is back at the institution she says to her psychologist that she did what he had told her to, she had "finished what she started". It is also revealed that the institutionalized woman at the beginning was "Mildred Kemp". (Which makes sense, because Mildred asked "who am I going to tell my stories to?," which means that while Anna moved back into the house, she was remembering the stories Mildred had told her, and putting them into her own version.) Anna smiles and the credits roll.
